New FREE Service: Job Search Hotline

Most of us were never taught how to navigate the job search. On top of that, there’s so much conflicting advice out there. It’s hard to know what to listen to and what not to listen to. Sometimes all you need is a simple answer from someone who gets it.

For many years now, I’ve been helping people in tech navigate the job search. Every week, I get questions about getting in the door at a tech company, answering interview questions, using a video cover letter for the job search, and many more. I try to answer them all! I jokingly refer to my DMs as the Job Search Hotline. I’ve realized that the answers to these questions could help many of you, so I’ve officially launched JobSearchHotline.com. A website where you can “call-in” your questions, and I’ll answer them within 48 hours for FREE. The only thing I ask is that you allow me to share the content on my website and social media accounts; chances are you aren’t the only one with this question, and someone else could also find the answer helpful.

So Why Am I Doing This For FREE?

Anytime I announce I’m doing something for free, at least one person reaches out to ask me why or what’s the catch? My answer is always: “Because I want to and because I can,” and that’s the truth. Some of the most stressful periods of my life have been the times when I’ve been on the market for a new job. Back home, I was blessed to have family friends who worked in HR and were always willing to give me tips. When I moved here to the US, it dawned on me how hard it can be to do this without the luxury of picking up the phone and asking someone you trust and knows what the heck they are talking about for advice. I was lucky to find one person who was willing to help me; I was so grateful! I vowed to pay it forward and help as many people as I could. And that’s why, even though I coach job seekers for a living, I’m always willing to answer job search-related questions for FREE!

Who Am I?

Rhona smiling and getting ready to jump in front of a yellow store entranceI’m Rhona Pierce, a Software Engineer turned Product/Project Manager & Recruiter. I’m passionate about helping people find jobs they love and helping teams build awesome software.

I’m a tell it like it is, no BS, no drama Afro-Latina raised to be equally passionate about loving Jesus and loving People for exactly who they are. As a kid, I was taught to be nice and to work hard for what I wanted. I also learned that as a black woman, I would face challenges that others wouldn’t and that if I wanted to succeed, I might have to adjust some things about my personality to fit in. As an adult, I’ve realized that that I’m happiest when I show up as my true authentic self in every situation. So now that’s what I do.

Navigating the corporate world was definitely not what I thought it would be. I’ve had high highs and low lows. I’ve experienced extreme stress, struggled with anxiety, depression, and have battled an eating disorder. There’ve been days when I’ve had to read what people wrote about me on LinkedIn just to be reminded of what I bring to the table. I know how hard and disappointing it can be when you’re out there giving it your all and am passionate about helping you achieve the fulfillment you’re looking for at a great job.

As a recruiter, I kept seeing candidates struggle with the same things, so I started a side hustle coaching Project Managers and Software Developers that turned into the services I offer today. I’ve always had the ability to see in others what they don’t see in themselves and have never been afraid to let them know. When you work with me, that’s what you get; a pep-talker that will tell you the good, the bad, the ugly, and how to use it ALL to have the success you’re looking for at a job you love.

Whether you’re fresh out of college or have been in the industry for decades, if you’re in the market for a job and have any questions, the Job Search Hotline is for you.
